This is a 1991, 4 player Terminator 2: Judgment Day pinball machine by Williams and was designed by the legendary Steve Ritchie. Of course based on the movie Terminator II: Judgment Day, the pinball features Arnold on the headglass, and has a lot of speech from the movie as well. This machine sticks very close to the movie in the objectives that you want to complete and the different speech that you hear. The playfield has a deceivingly simple layout that is simple enough for a novice to enjoy, yet the many timed objectives and those that require multiple shots to be successfully executed will keep the pro's coming back for more. The layout also makes cleaning and up keep a little easier too. The ramps and loops offer a very smooth feel to the game play and the pop bumpers give you plenty of action as well. Terminator 2 was the first machine designed by Williams to use the Dot Matrix Display (DMD) and was also the first machine to use a cannon fired by the player (done using the gun handle). The cannon is used to both get into multiball and to also collect the super jackpot while in multiball.
This machine is in very good condition for a 15 year old pinball machine. I will give you a description of the body and playfield with every flaw I could find. First, the playfield was stripped of all ramps and plastics and waxed, rerubbered, and all lamps were checked and replaced as needed. All functions have been tested and are working properly. The machine is working 100%. THE CANNON HAS A BRAND NEW MOTOR AND GEAR BOX and the DOT MATRIX DISPLAY IS ALSO BRAND NEW. The motor and gear box & display cost about $280 together. The body looks great and the colors remain bright and vivid. I would rate it about an 8. There are a few wear spots to mention and each of them have their own pictures below. There is a small amount of wear to the black paint on the body around the flipper buttons. There are also a few scuffs and light scratches to the cabinet, again pictures are available below. Two of the legs have some bunching of the cabinet art and one of them has a small torn area around the leg. The playfield is very nice as well. It remains bright and beautiful with very little wear. I would rate it about an 8.5. There is a small wear spot on the right lane (on back side of right sling shot) where the ball drops from the right wire ramp. There is one cracked plastic playfield insert on the right side leading to the right ramp. The ramps looks great, as do the plastics. The space ship on the left does have a chip taken out of the front of it and 2 of the upper lane plastics are broken on the left sides. The translight looks wonderful. The boards in the head also look great with no burnt up connectors. All of the boards have the same serial numbers as well. Overall I would give this Terminator 2 an above average rating.
